1:1 Nutrition Counselling

What is a Registered Dietitian? Registered Dietitians are your trusted experts in nutrition! In Alberta, you may come across titles such as Registered Dietitian, Dietitian, Registered Nutritionist, Nutritionist, or RD. These are protected titles, meaning individuals must hold a degree in Nutrition and Food Science from an accredited university and be licensed by a regulatory body (in Alberta, this is the College of Dietitians of Alberta).

Covered by Insurance Plans

Did you know that Registered Dietitians are covered by most insurance plans? Take a look at your individual plan to see how much coverage you have per year! Some insurance plans will not provide direct billing, but we are happy to provide you with a receipt immediately after your appointment so that you can submit it in a timely manner.

What To Expect

FREE Discovery Call

Wondering how a Registered Dietitian can assist you in achieving your nutrition and health objectives? Schedule a complimentary 15-minute Discovery Call with Jessica to explore how she can guide and support you on your path to better nutrition. This session is your chance to ask any questions and discuss nutrition topics tailored to your specific health goals. Please note: Clients wishing to book an Initial Nutrition Assessment must first complete a Discovery Call. This step allows us to address your primary nutrition concerns and ensure you benefit fully from your initial assessment. No personalized nutrition advice will be given during the Discovery Call.

Initial Nutrition Assessment

The initial assessment is your first meeting with your Dietitian and serves as a chance for you and Jessica to build a connection. In this session, Jessica will assess your key nutrition and health needs by exploring your medical and mental health history, food habits, relationship with food and exercise, and any other important details. This assessment lays the groundwork for understanding your nutritional needs and helps Jessica collaborate with you to design a personalized plan. By the end of the session, you’ll create SMART goals, a planned schedule for follow-up appointments, and resources to help you take the first steps toward achieving those goals.

Nutrition Follow-up Sessions

Follow-up sessions play a key role in helping you develop lasting, healthy habits to support your nutrition goals. These sessions focus on providing most of the nutrition education, conducting nutritional analyses, and creating a tailored food and nutrition plan that fits your needs. You’ll leave each session with clear guidance, accountability, and additional resources. The number and frequency of follow-up sessions will be based on the personalized plan designed in collaboration with your Registered Dietitian.

Our Dietitian uses Non-Diet and Weight Neutral Approaches

What does this mean for you? It means that during appointments, weight measurements and numbers are not the focus. Instead, the emphasis is on meaningful behavior changes and other positive indicators that support your unique nutrition goals. Jessica works with the foods you enjoy (and considers those you don’t) to help create a sustainable, satisfying plan tailored to your needs.
She can also support you in starting or continuing your journey with Mindful Eating or Intuitive Eating.
