Counselling

Counselling is a collaborative relationship designed to help individuals navigate emotional, psychological, and situational challenges. It provides a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts and feelings, identify patterns of behaviour, and develop personalized strategies for positive change, wherever you are on your healing journey.

How It Works

Rather than simply "giving advice," a counsellor acts as a facilitator, empowering you to leverage your own resilience and analytical strengths to achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life. It is a process of unpacking your current experiences to understand the underlying patterns, then rebuilding with new tools and perspectives.  You get to explore all your wants, fears, needs, unresolved traumas and desires in a safe, non judgmental space, where you will be seen and heard in your truth and experience.

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we find ourselves in spaces that feel heavy, confusing, or stagnant. Whether you’re navigating grief, life transitions, or simply feeling a sense of dissatisfaction you can’t quite name, you’re not alone. Grief can touch every stage of life, not just in loss, but in change, growth, and unmet expectations.

Counselling can explore what’s percolating beneath the surface and work toward a version of you that feels grounded, empowered, and whole. Counselling is designed to provide a compassionate, grounded space to explore those complexities and find a way forward that feels authentic to you.

Counselling can help navigating:

  • The Weight of Being "Stuck": Whether it’s in a career, a relationship, a life changing injury, or a general sense of "blah," together we can help identify the invisible barriers keeping you from moving forward toward the life you want.
  • Chronic Health & Wellness Struggles: Navigating the physical and emotional toll of long-term health issues is exhausting. We aim to provide a space to process the frustration, fatigue, and the unique mental health challenges that come with chronic conditions.
  • The Grief of "What Could Have Been": Grief isn’t just about loss; it’s often about the life you expected to have by now. We can help you honor the disappointment of an unsettled life and help you find peace in the present.
  • Active Healing: Healing isn't about "fixing" yourself—it's about integrating your experiences so they no longer control your present or future. We work together to help build resilience, self-compassion, and bring safety back into your body.

What to Expect

Counselling at Stride starts with a counselling assessment; an opportunity for us to gather the "data" of your life. We look at your history, your mental health, your physical health (including injury or chronic pain), and your support systems. We then analyze your story for the patterns that can help to connect the dots between your past experiences and your current behaviors. This linkage grants us the ability to develop practical tools that you can implement with the end objectives of nervous system regulation, boundary setting, cognitive restructuring, and healing.

You will then take these tools "into the field" to apply towards your counselling goals. Subsequently, we identify and observe where there are small, tangible shifts in how you handle stress and how your body feels with your newly empowered skill set. Eventually, your acquired abilities and mindset become your new normal, and our sessions are spaced further apart as you gain resilience, autonomy and an increased sense of self.
