Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
IASTM is a form of manual therapy where the therapist uses instruments to work on soft tissue (muscle, fascia, scar tissue) throughout the body. These instruments can be made from a variety of materials, ranging from the Traditional Chinese Medicine staple of jade to stainless steel used in Graston Technique®. This can help to improve mobility, decrease pain and restore normal function. IASTM can be uncomfortable, but your therapist can adjust their pressure to enable better tolerance to treatment.
