Cupping Massage
Cupping applies suction to the body which creates stretching while stimulating blood and lymph circulation to the underlying tissues. Cupping draws out old blood, cellular debris and other wastes leaving behind colored marks. Marks from the cups typically last from 7-10 days. People have stated that cupping feels like a strong pinch, itch or sunburn. This pain typically resolves quickly after 1-2 minutes. Indications for Cupping Therapy:
- Increases sport performance and recovery time after events
- Reduces cellulite
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Softens scar tissue
- Increases blood flow and lymph drainage
- Decreases pain in swollen joints and muscle spasms
- Suppresses the body’s fight or flight response
Cupping implemented with massage can be used a variety of different ways. Flash cupping is light suction then immediately removing the cup in a popping motion, typically used for facial cupping as it doesn’t leave marks. Moving cupping is sliding the cups on the tissues, used for larger areas of the body, effective for cellulite treatments. Stationary cupping is leaving cupping for an extended period of time in a single spot, effective for alleviating trigger points and muscle spasms.
